  1. Cutter won't cut some lines - Graphtec FC9000 & Flexi

I have a graphic that I'm trying to cut in my stencil material. The primary issue I've been facing with this job is that it's so large and detailed that the cutters are having a hard time processing the data. At the moment I'm working on a portion of the graphic that is only about 4ft by 3ft...
  2. FC9000 + Take up reel review

No, I was never able to figure it out. I still have to just let it roll up after cutting every 10ft. It’s really annoying but it’s still better than rolling up a 100’+ cut by hand, so I’ve learned to live with it. If you’re not doing extremely large cuts or roll-to-roll cutting, I definitely...
  3. Graphtec FC9000-140 over TCP/IP "Cannot open port." (fixed)

Thank you! Your suggestion about unplugging while running the ping was right on the money! Turns out another device somehow got the machine's IP (odd though, considering the machine was on and connected the entire time). We also had two of our canon Colorado printers start having the same...
  4. Graphtec FC9000-140 over TCP/IP "Cannot open port." (fixed)

It does not have a new IP. All cutters have a static IP. The first thing I did on initial setup was to turn off DHCP to prevent that problem from ever occurring. Also, it is on the network. I can see that it is connected when I run arp -a in terminal, and I am able to ping the IP from my computer.
  5. Graphtec FC9000-140 over TCP/IP "Cannot open port." (fixed)

Turns out that was not the problem. Still no dice after restart. I also tested ALL the cutters. Out of our 6 cutters, only one is having the issue.
  6. Graphtec FC9000-140 over TCP/IP "Cannot open port." (fixed)

I'm planning on doing so shortly. I just have to wait until there are no other print or cut jobs being sent to any of the cutters in the department. Seems odd though that it could be that, since the other identical cutter is working properly. I guess we will find out as soon as I'm able to shut...
  7. Graphtec FC9000-140 over TCP/IP "Cannot open port." (fixed)

I'm having a problem that started suddenly out of nowhere this morning. We have all our cutters connected to Flexi Production Manager via the network. All cutters have DHCP turned off with manually set IP/subnet/gateway. We have two FC9000-140 cutters side-by-side, both new (about 2 months old...
  8. FC9000 + Take up reel review

Using pre-feed does not cause it to take up at each feed, however I was able to get it to take up after every 10ft of cutting. It's still annoying though as it has to stop while it performs the take up. It most definitely SHOULD be able to take up while cutting though, as that is exactly what...
  9. FC9000 + Take up reel review

Example Video here showing the bi-directional operation during cutting. If this is not a function of this take up reel, then it is horribly misrepresented by graphtec. Years ago I used to use a super old graphtec (I think it was a fc4100 series) that had a similar system for the media input. It...
  10. FC9000 + Take up reel review

It's not the cutting that I'm having an issue with, it's the auto take up reel. I want the take up reel to function the way it does in the example video from graphtec. However, in the instructional video they created, it only says to enable the take up sensor, then execute take up before...
  11. FC9000 + Take up reel review

I know this is an old thread, but can anyone tell me how to get the auto take up reel on the FC9000 to perform the take up during a cut? I just got it installed and so far have only been able to get it to perform the take up when the job is complete. I'm cutting anywhere from 50-150ft jobs at...
  12. Suggestions Upgrading one of my plotters. Graphtec or Summa?

Yeah that's a good idea. I may have a conversation with our logistics and ordering guy and see if he can set us up some demos of both cutters. It's so hard to know what a cutter can really do just based on the specs, because our work is definitely not typical. Most people aren't cutting 50'x94'...
  13. Suggestions Upgrading one of my plotters. Graphtec or Summa?

So I guess I should clarify a little bit. The Graphtec I'm currently using for this job is really old, and the summas we have are S2 T-series. I don't have any experience with the newest versions of the FC9000 series (although we do have an older one that doesn't track as well as the even older...
  14. Suggestions Upgrading one of my plotters. Graphtec or Summa?

So I am looking into replacing one of my current plotters with a new model. Right now I am using a Graphtec FC8600-130. It's aging and I'm beginning to have more failed cuts (more specifically x-axis errors saying the media is too heavy) and we're quickly approaching the busiest season of the...
  15. Please help before i lose my mind.

In case anyone else is having this problem, and since "google it" is the least helpful reply I've ever read, we ran in to the same issue with CUT-Server. When trying to send a cut to our Summa, it wouldn't crash, but the progress bar would never fill and it wouldn't go away. The cutter did not...
