1614 quality issue need advise

I need some input from you all. I've finally got clean nozzle checks, but I'm running into a strange issue. I'm working on some stickers and don't usually print QR codes this small on my 1614. The print with the information labels is from the 1614, while the unlabeled one is from my little Canon TC-21 on fast quality settings. It's frustrating that the smaller printer is producing better results.

I'm not familiar with this model, however, based on my experience with my Roland Printers, it appears the heads are out of alignment as the magenta is offset from the Black. Could you also post the nozzle test, just so we can see if anything else might be going on. I would wager that once you fix your head alignments so they are inline, you'll probably get at least a cleaner look, however, based on the lines and the slight overspray, I imagine there's more going on then just the alignment.

Your Canon will always print higher quality than the 1614 for 2 main reasons, 1. There's about 15 years between the two in regards to the technology used. 2. The Canon is a water based machine which means much better dot gain and higher resolution. That's part of the trade off between solvent and water based inks. While the Canon looks better, it will fade quickly outdoors, and the Mutoh takes a hit in quality but will last 3+ years without laminate outdoors.

That being said, I agree with Zoogee. Dial in your head alignments as accurately as you can and it should clear up a little. But the fuzziness of the magenta tells me it's more likely an aging head or similar.

Well that makes sense on the age difference didn't realize there was a big difference for the ink type I'll have a look at the head alignment and as for the aging head the head is less than a year old actually

If the head is only a year old, and your nozzle check looks good, alignments are probably the issue. Check your profile settings and try turning the motor speed down if you can as well. That should crisp things up.

Sometimes the ink batch itself may cause issues. The physical properties of the ink can lead to blurring.
Check the printhead height and try printing at the lowest possible setting.
Also, verify the print mode — if you’re using a variable dot mode (indicated by MD after the resolution), switching to a fixed drop size mode may improve print quality when the ink or printhead condition isn’t ideal.
