Are ECO-SOL MAX 2 ESL4-4MG cartridges Compatible with Roland Pro 3 XC540?

Hello everyone,

Please your advice would greatly be appreciated. I bought complete 12 ECO-SOL MAX 2 ESL4-4MG cartridges from a private seller for my Roland Pro 3 XC540 only to find out after inserting the cartridges
into the printer that it was the wrong type. The printer would not recognize the cartridges and say "error, wrong cartridge type". The cartridges currently used is ECO-SOL MAX. I wanted to find out if there is
a work around to make the printer accept the cartridges or I have no option but to sell the cartridges.

Thank you four help!
J

Ink Compatibility for the Roland XC-540

  • Original Ink: The Roland SolJet Pro III XC-540 was originally designed to use ECO-SOL MAX ink.
  • ECO-SOL MAX 2 Compatibility: The XC-540 is listed as compatible with third-party or replacement Eco-Sol Max 2 inks. Roland also specifies that for white and metallic silver colors, you must use ECO-SOL MAX 2 ink, even if switching other colors to MAX 3.
  • ECO-SOL MAX 3 Compatibility: It is possible to switch the printer to use ECO-SOL MAX 3 inks (for CMYK+LcLm colors) by following a specific ink switching procedure which may include a firmware update. The procedure ensures the machine recognizes the ink type and prevents mixing different ink formulas
