Billboard with Aluminum trim?

Hey guys, I've been asked to redo a face in one of these newer billboards and not having seen one up close, I'm wondering how they are installed, and anything I need to know. Such as how much bleed do I need to print, do I even need pole pockets? I'm absolutely clueless on this one. The billboard in question is similar to the one pictured, and at 60 miles away, I want to be able to get it done in one trip. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ive seen them with tension wires behind the trim - you use a wierd hook thing, pull the wire, attach it to somehting on the material, and pull it taught (I was watching a billboard person install one while pumping gas)

That is definitely a 2-trip minimum job. You need to go see it for yourself. You can't trust the opinions of other people who have also not seen it. Even if someone has done something similar, odds are there will be something different about it.

Someone on here has surely done them I started looking around and I can think of three or four of them within 5 miles from me. Thanks to google maps, because I was about to assume it was like all of the others I have done. Thanks for the replies so far.

I'm not familiar with that frame but I am familiar with thinking I know how some sign is put together only to get there and discover that even though it looks exactly like every other one it's not.

I would quote the job including 2 trips out there. If you don't get the job, well, it's better than quoting it with one trip out there because you'll end up making 2 trips anyway.

I was trying to save face, but the reason for not wanting to make two trips is I have quoted, and landed the job already. I thought I quoted it high enough to never hear from again, especially when I tacked on the extra money for the travel, but I didn't include two trips. I assumed it would be just like every other billboard that I've done and be the same. Maybe I just need to climb up in one of the local signs and inspect, but it's raining today and I need to get the print ordered and was looking for easy answers. :banghead:

Well... After a couple of phone calls and a bunch of google maps searching, this is not a lamar billboard, rather customer leased, I am allowed to replace the face (I'm not allowed on a Lamar structure, which makes good sense) but I still have to figure out how. That's what I get for not doing my homework properly BEFORE accepting the job/giving a quote. Live and learn I guess. :banghead:
