I may be wrong but I think you're overthinking it. We do 10-20 mixers a year for 3 different companies, blast, paint and decal and have been doing these for around 10 years. Before we started making decals the companies would supply us with them and it was always 3m control tac of some sort, printed and cut. Even the doors lettering and DOT numbers were print/cut. These trucks are ragged out and will look just as bad as the decals in a few years. Down here they don't wash them with acid either, it would be a violation of the clean water act (I'm pretty sure). They use a PH neutral soap that does a horrible job.
