Clipping Mask Nightmare HELP!!!

I have a brochure file, that was given to me yesterday by a client. Its a .pdf created in Illustrator CS5 I have CS2.

The file is loaded full of clipping masks. I can't figure out how to trim off all the excess crap so I can make it fit my template dimensions.

I have tried exporting it as a .tiff and cropping it off in photoshop but then I get problems of the text sitting outside the trim lines.

Can anyone tell me what to do? I am ready to scream this is such a nightmare. Original artist isn't even in the country its another south american job.

I handle a few dozen like this every day. Most of those clipping paths will be pointless, kill them all and then handle the file like any other Illustrator file...
