Hi. How to punch/cut ring holes for spine comb/coil/spiral/any binding (preferring plastic comb) of laminated paper, please? Is the only way to get a proper, heavy, metal puncher? Or would it help to put the laminated paper sheet between (many?) sheets of ordinary paper sheets (previously punched through so it doesn't need so much pressure)?
MAIN GOAL
Waterproof spine comb ring binding (but no 3 ring) of thin laminated paper (a little smaller than letter/A4). (Printouts (maps) on standard office paper, hot laminated in 1.5mil (unsure of the material, it's the thinnest pouches I could find). Preferring 6-40 sheets bound, but 6-20 sheets could be enough. I do it all, so I can re-arrange or laminate it with anything extra.) Personal use only, in the USA. Preferring the thinnest/most bendable.
PROBLEM
Punching the holes with an ordinary manual ring binding hole puncher/threader, sheet by sheet - the laminated paper gets stuck and shifts in the puncher.
Could a much thicker lamination layer be better? I could thick laminate just a strip (laminating over a strip of the existing thin laminate; I don't mind bubbles.)
Alternative: The easiest seems to have some ring hole puncher-friendly plastic sheets/strips, and laminate an edge of them next to the paper.
No need for esthetics. No fixed dimension - so a solution can add to the width/height. Permanent page order, no additions/removals. Preferring not to put the laminated printouts into plastic pockets/sleeves - they slide out (even though I could glue it in somehow), also, the air gap makes them less readable.
