Considering Margins

Back in the early 70's I worked in a shop doing the general sign work mostly. Novembers the boss left for a month and we needed to fill in. I needed to do the sho cards, and Gary, who did the billboards did the shop signs because it was rainy. At the end of the day we were observing and chatting and noticed my cards looked like signs and Gary's signs looked like billboards. It all had to do with margins.

You mean you didn't follow the margin specs in the corporate style guide that was written by the intern? You'll never make it through the punch list. I would be looking at another line of work.

Remember, the bigger the letters, the more perceived value to the customer. It's far easier to sell a 4' x 8' sign with 1" margins than it is to convince the customer they need 8" margins (they think you are trying to rip them off).
