Double-check your blend on screen and with a proof before you go live. Sometimes the transition from one color to another will have an odd color in the middle. You can minimize it by using your gold color and adding 100% K for your black. If your black has lots of blue in it, it will get muddy in the middle.

Simplifying the nodes doesn't make a difference in my example. Both shapes have to have the exact same node layout (identical shape just one smaller). Your final solution is simpler and easier than mine by using the contour and adjusting the number, width and color of the contours. Nice.
