encoder strip fj40

Hello, I'm trying to find an encoder strip for the fj40. I found some for the fj400 and 500. Would this be the same strip as whats on the fj 40?

I had asked in the past about the strips being the same for all the Roland units and did not get sure answer. If you ask Roland they say they must be for the correct printer. The price I got for a FJ 42 was $400 plus. I am tempted to to try a longer one and cut it down and see if it works. They were about $100. I have cleaned mine since so I am not in a panic to get one replaced. I can't see there being a different strip for every unit out there, and when you think about what they are, you should be able to cut one down.

Report back if you do try something.

My thoughts exactly. I found the same 450.00 price too. I think I'm going to try cutting one of the other models down. Will let you know what happens.
