Epson Surecolor S40600 Loose Loading Lever

Hello, I've been having issues with my Epson Surecolor S40600. It has a loose loading lever. When I load Vinyl products (Primarily Oracolor vinyls), it seems to function just fine and temporarily tighten the lever, though when I load Banners or Duratrans, it lets me know there's a media error, and the handle is quite loose. We've been having this issue for quite a while, and am quite perplexed. Sometimes the printer will work with those materials, and some days it refuses to.

If anyone's experienced this issue before or knows about it, please let me know.

Thank you

I had the same problem with my s40600. You need to choose a different type media. Then, you can lift the lever, lower it again, and choose the correct media. I know that this doesn't make any sense. But, it's the only thing that worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Hello, yes we do that to fix the issue temporarily. The problem is that that doesn't work for some of my more glossy materials, specifically Duratrans. Usually the machine just needs time and can be persuaded to print them after it's left to wait, for whatever reason, but I'm looking for a more permanent solution to the issue, so we don't lose time waiting for the machine to print.

The Force of the Pinchrollers can be set from light to hard and can be changed in the media type. Every time you load a new media you have to select the type and the pinch rollers are set by the nip adjust motor. Sometimes some dust comes into the housing or simply the photointerruptor on the motor breaks and the pinch roller cam is positioned wrong. Also listen to the machine when you are loading new media, when you hear a squeaking noise probably the cam turns to hard for the motor and needs to be cleaned and lubricated.
