The Mack Brush Co. http://www.mackbrush.com/ is just a few miles up the road and was in the local news this morning. They're located in a commercial (historic downtown) section of Jonesville, MI and are the catalyst of a new initiative that may allow zoning changes to take place for business that otherwise fall outside commercial zoning.
I am assuming they're considered "light" or low-impact manufacturing, but since they have a very aesthetic storefront appeal, their presence might make it for other types of businesses to occupy commercial property...so long as they contribute to the "quaint" appearance of the downtown area.
I think it's an excellent idea...one long overdue.
