Great Vacation!

Just got back from another cruise (my 15th). It was a pretty good vacation made GREAT by the tour we did in Roatan, Honduras. We went to a little resort called Anthony's Key Resort to do a Dolphin Swim & Snorkel. The best off-ship tour I've ever done in 15 cruises by far! First 45 minutes was an "introduction" to the dolphins with the standard meet your dolphin, get your picture taken with your dolphin stuff. After that is when it got really good. We then went to the deep end of the enclosure and had a 45 minute "free snorkel/swim" with around 14 dolphins. IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I love water and swim like a fish, so I was diving to the bottom (around 18-20 feet) and grabbing hand-fulls of seaweed to play "catch" with the dolphins. They love playing and "fetching" things. They are so curious about us and are not shy at all. It was amazing! Unfortunately we weren't allowed underwater cameras during the swim, as the dolphins will try to "steal" them, but that was okay... the memory and experience was more than pictures could tell!

I've attached a few pics from the dolphin meeting as well as the resort where this is. Wendy & I have decided that this is where we want to go for my 50th Birthday this October. We are going back for 2 weeks at the end of October. We will definitely swim with the dolphins again! I plan to get dive certified by then and do lots of diving and snorkeling also. This is a beautiful resort with Cabanas (pictured) out on the little island key off of Roatan. It is so peaceful there... I can't wait till October!! We are inviting any and all friends and family who want to join us for one or both weeks! :clapping::clapping:

You can see the dolphin enclosure on the right side of the ariel photo. From what I've learned about dolphins, they love being there. They are let out into the open sea every week for exercise and a free swim, and they always come back. They seem like very happy mammals!

Shhhh, don't tell to many people about Roatan! We've been there twice in the last three years, tried a different island this year(Little Corn Island, Nicaraugua), and were missing Roatan the whole time. My daughter did the dolphin encounter, she wasn't old enough to swim with them, and it's something she always talks about. The diving in Roatan is amazing, and the snorkeling is just as good.

Okay... mums the word on Roatan (especially Anthony's Key Resort). But, if anyone is so inclined to join us there for my 50th Birthday, you're welcome. We will be there from the 27th of October for 2 weeks! Imagine... a Signs101 Meet & Greet of a different sort... hmmm...:popcorn:

If you end up too far off of the beaten path, you can eat at a restaurant with a pet monkey that offers free chest hair removal! (only picture I had of this on my work computer)

I've been there and they have amazing wildlife sanctuaries. They have an iguana farm that is fun. 100's of them come up to you just to be fed leaves. They are docile and some are quite large. I love wildlife.

Yeah, Wendy did get a burn the day before, but she did alright! It's a nice tan right now! Do I ever stay at home and work? Well, I try not to. If I don't get away at least 3 or 4 times per year, I feel like I'm missing out on life!! :Big Laugh

Ooohhhh, I'll have to go visit the iguana farm! Iguana feed them too! :clapping: Thanks for the heads up!
