grimco's max metal

im installing a 4x4' max metal 3mm between 4x4" posts,
i'm thinking on using the u brackets grimco sells, anybody used this set up before?

will it be strong enough or im a better off building a wood frame as i usually do?

I wouldn't use 3mm between two posts, 6mm would be fine, or Alumacorr, but not an ACM material like MaxMetal. Also, I'm pretty sure Grimco's U brackets are for 1/4" material, not 1/8", so you may have to bend them slightly to get them to fit.

My installer uses them brackets, and I never had a sign fail so they must work.

ive used 3mm on 4x4's but nothing bigger.

Never done it with the brackets but my first concern would be the wind ripping the bolts through the MaxMetal. The stuff just does not handle much stress at all.

A quick frame between the two posts so you could secure it all the way around would be better in my opinion.

Too thin, use the thicker MaxMetal! We use the thinner IF we use a pvc
post and frame system, never had a problem with them coming out.

If you didnt make the sign yet, 6mm would be better. If you already did 3mm it will probably work. As far as mounting it, I'd use some 4' pieces of angle aluminum, that way you have support on the whole side of the sign.

Have you considered fabricating a nice metal frame? You can use 3mm dibond with this, make sure there's tabs.
