I have a customer looking to hang acrylic indoors 16x20 and they don't want to use standoffs. I offered french cleats, how would I attach it to the back of the acrylic, this was printed of the back with a white mask

I would design with areas to put stainless steel face screws. Mount a smaller 3/4"PVC panel behind and attach French Cletes to the 3/4PVC. You can sell it as a floating sign panel

I am curious myself. The white ink presents a problem as it is a low energy surface. We have tried several glues and double sided laminates. Also very expensive banner tape to mount the acrylic to a PVC backer and then attach a French Cleat directly to the PVC. Never had the cleat come off the PVC but I do have the 1/4 inch acrylic begin to recede on the wall from the PVC. This is with using double sided adhesive for the entire surface area. We reverted back to standoffs to avoid complaints.

We laminate another piece of acrylic to the back with GF 107 then use LSE tape to mount our french cleat.

Are you UV printing and cutting w. laser in full.... Do you find the laser affects the ink and can cause some aberrations on the side.

We just put white vinyl on the white ink and adhere our cleat to that. We have signs that have been up for years with no issue.

I’ve done French cleats with screw cap covers. Drill hole bigger than screw for expansion. I order online, however big box hardware stores have them. They mainly used in furniture…. Makes for a nice finish look.
