interesting little business here. I came across this on uncrate yesterday. Vintage-esque signs could be a fun addition to offerings. I have often thought about creating things like this and hanging them in the lobby with price tags on them like a gallery and just see if anyone takes them.

If you have a pressure washer you can hit the wood with the highest pressure with the wand close,it will wear and splinter the wood.
Then dry and paint and or stain and do it again.
It will be a learning curve to see what works best.
I have pressure washed lots of decks and those pressure washers will eat wood.

some of the paint looks like its flaking off, I thought maybe there would be some baking, or water soaking used.

Google up faux finishes, there are a 1,000 tricks on how to get the old look.
I know I have made metal signs look old by light sanding and vinigar. It made them
rust up in a week.

Glad to see that you're actually antiquing it with real techniques instead using those photoshop faux effects.

Here's my latest antiquing sign : I did a lot of translucent layers. Thick latex doesn't sand well ( for distress ), so keep the layers thin.

easy enough to do for most of that ... exposed lights on a channel letter ... little distressing of the paint (easy enough to find how to do on ANY home improvement store/book/channel and instructables.com ... cnc routing with distressed lettering, and painted panels. definantly not for everyone. ... throw in western stars with that and I can easily sell that here.

A friend of mine Nick Collins (www.seenickdesign.com), has given classes on aging and so forth for different effects. Not sure if it is identical to these effects, but those kinds of classes are available.

I think a lot of the guys giving these classes are in the amusement industry/ Haunt industry.

but don't hang them in your show room and wait for a bite. do a few, do some virtual proposal/installs with them in spaces. then go to local successful design firms (the kind that do restaurants) to offer your services. i know this market fairly well. i do lots of "frank lloyd wright" or "arts and crafts" style signage for office buildings.
