Holographic Rainbow Media - Sensor reading problems

We’re currently trying to print on holographic vinyl and do contour cutting. We have a Summa S2, but it’s not working very well—either it doesn’t read the marks at all, or it cuts off alignment. I’ve already tried adjusting the sensor, putting a transparent yellow film on the sensor, making the marks bigger. I also tried cutting rectangles from black vinyl and placing them over the existing marks, but it’s very difficult to get them exactly in position so the cut isn’t misaligned. Are there better tricks for this?

If you have the ability to print white, printing white around all the registration marks should help. That's what we do. You can also try placing squares of matte laminate over the registration marks to reduce reflections.

I have gotten my plotter to recognize registration marks on highly reflective vinyl by making a masking tape "frame" around the registration marks.

I print red or yellow under the registration marks and that seems to work also
