HP l25500 carrier broke

Yesterday when I was adding banner material the roller that holds the material in and feeds it broke on the right side of the machine. The gears fell out but the plastic broke.

Anyone ever have this problem?

Can I order the part and fix it or will I have to have a tech come work on it?

Are you talking about the black tube looking things on the top of the platen?

If so they are cheap and easy to replace. HP sells them in sets for about $35 and they take 2 seconds to pop in.

Here is a picture of the piece that broke off.

It is replaceable, not sure of the cost. HP tech replaced that part on our 260 in about 30 mins as I recall. It contains a motor and gear. They ran a burn-in procedure for about 2 hours afterward through the front panel service menu.

They are replacing it again tomorrow :omg:

Do you know what hp calls that part? I have talked to 3 people and none can help. They told me I can buy full service manual for $349 and it will show me what I need then I can order it. I mean damn i bought this machine new for $17000 2 years ago and I have to pay to find out part name.

The part is called "Roll Housing Right Service Assembly" on the 260 / 26500. It is the plastic housing, metal gear and blue lever. No electrical parts in it.

HP just replaced that part and the associated motor again on our 260 today. Took the tech about 2 hours from start to finish and the machine was taken apart quite a bit to do the work. Looks like a straightforward repair if you are handy with fixing stuff.

Hog,
How is it going? Hopefully you were able to find the part number and the part. Good luck!
