Illustrator CC

I've just started using Illustrator CC and whenever I place text or objects on a black background (or any dark colour) they appear to have a thin white stroke around them. Is there something in the settings I need to change? Never had this problem before.

Assuming you don't have a stroke on it, that is just the way it is. I have already gotten used to it. One of the many things I dislike about CC.

No I hardly ever have strokes on anything. Very frustrating indeed. I thought there would have to be some way around it.

I'd say it's a setting. I attached a pic with text and an object.
