Jv3 160- SS21 and SS2 ink ?

Hi everyone,
We got some deeply discounted ink cartridges from a supplier that is no longer a mimaki dealer. They told us they were SS2 inks, but are in fact SS21 inks. The mimaki will not read them. I was able to swap a chip from a cartridge that was almost empty in case I slipped w the screwdriver putting it in there. It reads it , but still stays it is only 1 ink level. Any way to reset the ink level? Is there a difference in the ink formula that might cause issue to the colors of my product? If I would need a perm chip, or if the formula is different- than its too much trouble than its worth and will return the ink too the supplier. Thanks!

Hard telling for sure. SS21 inks are for JV33 machines and are specifically developed and optimized for a DX5 printhead. SS2 inks are developed and optimized for a DX4 printhead.

You have a chance of it possibly being too thin or too thick, the colors might not match, the solvents might be incompatible, etc. Not really worth the risk of mixing them.

On the chips, once a machine has written the ink level to the chip that cannot be undone. Cannot remember if it works this way on a JV3 but on a JV33 a chip can be forever at level 1, as long as the empty flag does not pop out of the side of the cartridge. Once that happens the printer will program the chip as empty and it will no longer work.
