Laminates

We are looking for a 10 mil laminate to be used for trade show productions. This will be applied to a styrene or polypropolene substrate for colapsable display system. Does anyone know of a good laminate in that thick of a range and who makes it?

LexJet makes some nice laminates for tradeshow applications.

I don't know if they use any resellers, but you can set up an account right through lexjet.

EDIT:
If you buy Photo Tex from someone, they can probably get you the DisplayFlex. Using the PS lexan can be a bit tricky to start with, but if you go with recommendation in regards to pressure and tension you should be good to go.

BTW how are you planning on doing the display you are talking about? Are they rollable panels for a pop-up booth?

I believe these will be printed and applied to the substrate laminated and the customer plans on putting velcro on the back to attach them to a capreted wall of sort.

They will be too rigid, in my opinion, to roll or anything like that.

The DisplayFlex comes in a 5mil version as well -- you could probably use that since the substrate will give the graphic rigidity and the lexan is just needed as a protective layer.

We use alot of the Lamex 3-, 5- and 10-mil luster embossed polycarb laminate from Fellers. Nice stuff, it's a little difficult to work with but we've never had a problem.

Will you be doing this with PSA lam or Hot lam? We produce these graphics on our aqueous printer with hot lam using a 5 mil lam, a 10 mil backer and a 5 mil display film that its printed on. Works out to be a great product and Lexjet has similar PSA products for doing this as well. If on aqueous they have a clear textured film that you can reverse print on and then put on a psa backer. Tested it, printed great, but stayed with the hot lam procedure.

This will be applied with a cold lam. No hot lam for us

We have a JV3 160 SP and what are process will probably be is printing on a calendered vinyl, laminateing with a thick stiff laminate and apply the whole thing to a thin but rigid substrate.

I just did a display with Intellicoat POS Pro 200/300 base that was laminated with a 15 mil polycarbonate from mactac. Very rigid, but will still roll nicely into a 6" to 10" tube if you handle with care. The laminate comes on an 8" core, don't expect it to fit on you laminator.

I wish all laminates were as easy to work with as a 15 mil product.

Did you print solvent or direct to board with the POS Pro?

How did you laminate with an 8" core? What machines have spools that house such a large core?

grab a roll of vinyl thats on a 3" core and has enough vinyl still on it to fit nicely in an 8" core
