Laminator Help!

Like a lot of you guys I can usually figure things out eventually, but despite my best efforts, I cannot seem to solve this. I have a Seal laminator and no matter how many adjustments I make, it will not run true. I've tried leveling the machine, and I've adjusted the roller heights more times then I can count. I admit defeat! Lol Does anyone know of a repair person for Seal laminators (or laminators in general) in the Southern Ontario region?

so a seal laminator typically has crowned rollers. Except the Ultra Series. That means the center touches before the ends. Kneel in front of your laminator so you can see the rollers. Wind the rollers closed until there is no air at the middle. now look at the sides. If one side is higher than the other, that is your issue. You need a nip calibration. If they are not the you are either loading wrong(too much brake to start) Not feeding strait or the take up is not set up properly. If nip is confirmed OK, then it is always operator error from there.

send me an email and I'll see if I can get the Seal tech (retired) to come out of retirement and help you. What model is it? if it isn't one of the newer models I can help you over the phone. Happy to help.

Thank you both so much.

I have done nip tests with a thin piece of parchment paper. Once it pinches on one side I adjust the pressure screws until the pinch is identical on both sides of the machine. I have ordered two pull scales and am going to try and see of they are pulling on both sides with the same pressure, but even if they aren't, I'm not sure how to fix it, but at least I'll have some more information to work with. Thank you for your help!!

Hi Mark - it's a Seal 80 Pro, so certainly not a newer model. Lol I will send you an email as well! Thank you so much!

I responded to your email. My old buddy is happy to help and he should be able to fix you up. He's likely the guy who installed it when you purchased that machine.
