Masking tape recommendations

Masking tape is one of those expenses that we just can't get around. We use magnets any chance we get but they don't stick to aluminum truck bodies and fiberglass boats unless you tape them on! To the point, we've been using 3m automotive refinish 388N for years, however, they price keeps going up. Every time we try an off brand we are disappointed. I'm willing to give it another try and buy a few rolls of whatever this collection of vinyl installers recommend. Thank you in advance.

I mostly use the 3M blue tape if it's not long term because it's not as tacky, comes off easy and easier to see the blue color. Scotch 2020 for anything that needs to stay over a day. The blue stuff will get hard to remove and leave residue after a few days. Both get from home depot. I think it's a couple bucks a roll, nothing to worry about rationing.

I swear by the orange frog tape, holds strong and no issues with residue. Perfect for holding large and long wall wrap panels securely. Also works great for temporary signs, can even remove and re stick them several times.
