Mimaki JFX200-2513 vs HP FB550

The powers that be have given me the choice of a Mimaki JFX200-2513 or a HP FB550 for our first flatbed printer. Which way should we go? Pros and Cons? I've heard the HP can have banding issues, but I like the belt system on it as we may be getting into some high volume jobs.

Banding was an issue at a previous company that I worked for that had the FB700. Not on all substrates, but some more than others. One thing to consider on the belt system is whether you'll be doing CNC graphic finishing. My impression has been that a true flat bed is more accurate especially when it comes to shapes other than simple rectangles. We produce a lot of retail displays that have complex shapes and we have very small tolerances, so I feel like the best solution for us is the true flatbed. If your work doesn't require that, then it's a toss up. Having used both though, I would prefer the true flatbed, but still wish I could do roll to roll like the FB700 sometimes. Good Luck!

The Mimaki jfx 200 zero banding, led Curing (no changing lamps), very low maintenance, amazing quality, the true flat bed let's you do more applications with extreme precision. Feel free to give ma a call. I have 2 of them in my office and have installed 100+ Mimaki UV flatbeds. 615-812-3001 Steve Weist
