Mutoh 1304 Help!!! - Only printing PURE magenta

Hey everyone. I thought I'd check here before I blow up our Advantage rep's phone.

Mutoh VJ-1304. 3 months old.

Came in this morning and went to run a print - and is only printing pure magenta. I'm trying to print black.

Tried another file - also just pure magenta.

I've done a cleaning and am working a Little Charge right now. Any ideas?

Just did a nozzle check after little charge. All nozzles are printing well. They are also ALL printing pure Magenta.

Sure. I tried to take a picture of the nozzle check, but there is too much glare. Here is the print that came out. This was supposed to be black. It ripped as black. Shows up in the preview as black. Prints....This.

look in your lines and dampers. what color are they.

Black and magenta. And the black is more magenta than black.

This is bad isn't it?

you have cross contamination. did you have it autoclean and it ran out of ink?

No....We had to swap out some cartridges this morning, but it was in the middle of a job. Then this started. Is there a fix that I can do, or do I need to make a warranty call?

you can do a light charge to purge the lines and dampers and get the proper colors back into them. 1304s have a tendancy to pull other colors into the lines and dampers when one color runs out and it sits. this happened to us over thanksgiving weekend. we had it set up to auto clean, and yellow ran out. it pulled magenta into all the other colors.

we did a light charge, then two cleans, and we were back in business.

I agree.

uneven ink levels in the cartridges will do that...

Doing 1 or 2 little charges should correct the issue if you have ink flow to the waste bottle.

You guys are the best! Two little charges and a heavy cleaning cycle, and the nozzle check looks right!
