Hi Guys-

Has anyone out there found a fix for the Mutoh Chips not allowing complete emptying of the 220ml ink cartridges? I have a about 6 of every color half full but can't use. When the chip problem first started I received some new chip card replacements but they still don't allow the cartridges to fully empty. I just wasting money right now to keep printing. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

One chip failing once in a while is normal and Mutoh will send you out new chips. All of the chips failing all the time is an indication that your maintenance station isn't working 100%.

Don't be so sure on that. Mutoh has been having major issues with chips for the last year.

That's weird. We're a Mutoh dealer and we haven't been having issues. Our biggest problem was when they switched to the MS31 and the order ValueJets were clogging up. What model are you running?

1324x. Never ran correctly since I bought it new last year. Part of the problem was traced to the actual chip cards not being placed correctly on the cartridges - apparently there was quite a large batch that was affected. I'm surprised that you didn't see any of that. Mutoh Japan actually conceded that there was an error and all of the carts should have correct placements by now. That said, my machine still isn't working correctly (constant read failures of the chips) even after replacing everything but the mainboard. I have a lemon - Mutoh doesn't want to step to the plate with honoring another warranty on a replacement machine.

We do run into issues with the Mutoh chips more often than any other brand for sure. I just haven't had a lot recently. Even the 3rd party ink suppliers have a hard time making the chips so I'm not sure what it is about them but it's definitely an issue. In your case, I wonder if the board that decrypts the cards is malfunctioning. Sounds like you've already done a good amount of troubleshooting though.
