Mutoh VJ Lines in Print

Hi All,

I have a Mutoh Value Jet 1628TD which has cyan and magenta faint lines running through prints...this includes test prints. See image attached. Since the printer is out of warranty, any help to pin point the problem will be greatly appreciated. There are no missing nozzles at all, only the two faint lines.

When did the machine last have a print head and cable fitted?
That looks to me as if the head cable is failing or the print head is failing or maybe both.

Going to second heyskull. Seen this before several times and it has either been the CR or Head Cables. Probably wouldn't hurt to replace both.

Thanks for your prompt response heyskull. Both print heads were changed 14months ago however I am not sure about the head cables. I'll have a look into the cables and see if this is the cause.

I would hope a print head would last longer than 14 months! Unless it runs 24-7.
Always a good idea to change the cable when fitting a new print head.

Hi Heyskull,

So I went ahead and replaced the following:

- Head Cables (On both Heads)
- CR Board
- New Print Head (Head One)

However the lines are still there. Could it be the CR Cables??

I would clean both ends of the cr cables. The aqueous ink stays in those machines and causes all kinds of electrical issues.

Its hard for me to tell for sure from this picture but I have seen a bad ram chip on the mother board cause something similar.
