Google has revealed a new chip-themed homepage doodle that celebrates the birthday of Robert Noyce, co-founder the first intergrated circuit in 1958.
Robert Noyce and Jack Kilby co-founded the first intergrated circuit in 1958.
Jack Kilby was an American physicist who took part (along with Robert Noyce) in the realization of the first integrated circuit while working at Texas Instruments (TI) in 1958. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 2000. He is also the inventor of the handheld calculator and the thermal printer.
Below is a photo (on right) of Jack Kilby's original integrated circuit, which has made all that followed possible, from digital watches to iPads and everything in between, including this site.
