Hi All,
New member here, I've been a long time lurker, but recently joined up, because why not?
I work at a lab, running a swissQ Nyala 4 machine, but we also do dye-sub, pigment prints, etc. Essentially a one stop shop for high end photographic printing. I'm responsible for the color management of all digital inkjet printing (the a fore mentioned processes), and I've been working in the 'boutique' print world over ten years, and have been running swissQ's for a decade.
One of the biggest hurdles has been accumulating resources applicable to UV printing, so much so that I've begun the process of compiling my own "UV printing handbook." to help democratize the knowledge, and give people access to the knowledge that myself, and my team have accumulated over the years. Through the course of my research, I've noticed scant information about some more of the technical aspects of UV printing. But have also found abundance of resources pertaining to traditional offset printing. Some of the information seems pertinent, but other bits are obviously not applicable. I'm curious, what the opinion of everyone is, regarding the technical cross-over between the two processes, and if its worth it to delve deeper into the offset printing world to better grasp the potential technical intricacies of UV printing.
Thanks in advance for your input.
