Old handpainted wall lettering

Had to take some pics of this before it's gone. It is being disassembled and will be rebuilt in NYC as a restaurant.
It is an old oyster processing barge, a 2 story floating "factory". It was pulled up on dry ground and turned into a bar about 100 years ago.

Nice lettering. Still a few examples in my hometown.

That building though...OOF. And somebody is going to pay good money to dismantle, move then rebuild it?:omg: Surprised someone didn't already throw a match in it and call it a day.

It's the only remaining example of an oyster barge known. Mystic Seaport was interested but had to pass. The guys that bought it have done similar rehabs in the past.

Makes a bit more sense then.

I tend look at things like this through my midwest "glasses". New Yorkers seem to have an unlimited supply of disposable income.

Yea, but I've seen some total rust bucket basketcase tractors beautifully restored too...(I'm a fan of Classic Tractors on RFD TV),
