Pc-60 problems again

I am having problems with my pc-60 it continues to print a thin red line throughout the print. Does anybody have any adjustments or ideas that I can try to fix this problem??

i remember that very early on there was a print issue that resulted in a thin line through the prints but it was corrected with an update to the software...if you are using very early software it maybe worth it to search out the most updated version available on rolands site..but i can not imagine this is the cause UNLESS you are using an original supplied disk that came with the machine or have never installed an update.

good luck

It could also be a dead spot on the head. Can you post up a picture.... and a close up, please.

EDIT: I know to clean them with the pen but I have also seen a roll that you put in the machine to clean the heads... Does anybody know where to get those?? Or even know if these are usefull?

I used to get my clean sheets from Beacon. The pen is better, but could also be that your head is not heating up properly to the ribbons. Are you using Roland ribbons or some other third party ??

Okay, then I think you have a clogged head, also.

When using aftermarket ribbons, they sometimes don't heat up with the same temperatures the Roland ribbons do. Here's another experiment.... try reversing the order in which the printer prints. Instead of YMCK, try a different one.... and also try YMC. See if that improves it at all.

Right now it looks like the head isn't firing correctly for the Yellow.

my immediate thought when looking at the picture is media feed compensation needs adjusting, but have no idea how the PC-60 works, so...

Ok so I have replaced the head and ran through the adjustments. I am now getting a thin white line through the prints. I have adjusted the line pitch but no matter if it is on -.1 or -2.9 it still has the same white line and the thickness never changes. Does anybody have any ideas??

One question, what brand of ribbons are you using? I experienced this back in 2003 when attempting to use aftermarket ribbons, put in Roland ribbons and the problem was resolved and has not reoccured since, printer has been in use for over 7 years without any service. According to Roland "Do not use the cleaning sheets, there proved to be too abbrasive on the print head". The cleaning pen is all you need.

Both your pics are usually fixed with a line pitch adjustment.
Did a tech do the head replacement?
