Shouldn't this have an apostrophe before the "s" - it's the last name of the guy. They have several businesses and some have it, some don't.
The last thing I want is 100 people messaging me that I'm an idiot and didn't add the apostrophe...the guy is Mexican with a pretty heavy accent, not sure he really knows.

Just call me Chester.
From the web.
I thought it should but just to be sure......

Possessives

An apostrophe is used in a possessive form, like Esther's family or Janet's cigarettes, and this is the use of the apostrophe which causes most of the trouble. The basic rule is simple enough: a possessive form is spelled with 's at the end. Hence:

Lisa's essay England's navy my brother's girlfriend Wittgenstein's last book children's shoes women's clothing the aircraft's black box somebody's umbrella a week's work my money's worth

So is the name Rosa, or Rosas? the 's shows ownership, so if the name is Rosa, and it's their market, it should be Rosa's Mexican Market.

I think I'm going to just add the apostrophe...the other business he has it was in there. I thought it was his last name but it's not. I think this might just be a random Mexican name, or maybe his mom or grandmas name is Rosa? I have no idea. I think it's better to add it, I can always remove it I guess.

Rosas is a last name and a plural of flowers, we don't really use the apostrophe but I'm assuming is a last name

Oh!! OK, I better make sure and ask him then. All of his logos are AI generated so AI might have added the apostrophe. Thank you for clarifying this!

Please add it. When you've done everything right, they won't know you've done any thing at all.

It almost looks like you could also print one and add it later if requested, or print it with the apostrophe and if they say they didn't want it, scrape it off.
We aim to please. "Oh by the way, here's an extra apostrophe if you need one" :)

There needs to be an apostrophe, 99% of the time.
Is the name Rosa, or is the name Rosas ?
If it's Rosa, then the apostrophe makes it become Rosa's.
If the surname is Rosas, then it becomes Rosas' .
(Like our son James - his car becomes James' car - you don't put James's car)

But the exception to the rule is like the burger restaurant, Macdonalds, or Maccas as it is known in Australia.
An apostrophe is omitted I guess for convenience or marketing convention, but grammatically it belongs there after the s.

If “Rosas” is actually the customer’s last name, I would leave the apostrophe out. If the business belongs to someone named Rosa, then “Rosa’s” would be correct. Since this is going on a sign, I would definitely confirm the exact spelling with the owner before producing it rather than guessing.

Update! I brought my apostrophe along and I asked him again about the name. As Bonzai901 thought - ROSAS - is his last name! The last name on the emails is not Rosas, it's somethings else so it's a little confusing to me. I mentioned that his other business has an apostrophe. He then said when he applied for his LLC he put NO apostrophe but when he received it back - the state of WI had added one. He was going to have it changed but just went with it. So, we decided not to add the apostrophe.

If the last name were Jackson it could be "Jackson Mexican Market" (like you are using the name more like a brand than a last name) or "Jackson's Mexican Market".

F*cking a, the answer all along was government ineptitude!
I feel his pain...nobody can pronounce or spell my last name, they always leave out the E in Stacey and that's IF they don't call me Tracy. After a while you just go with the flow. Tracy Cuplitch, Coopitsch, Tcups...sure, close enough LOL

Yup, there is Rosa usually a first name or meaning a rose, and Rosas, a last name and has some variants like Rozas. And, belonging to Rosa: Rosa's
It gets confusing, and worse with Hispanic last names, which are 2: first for the father and second, mother's last name, but then people get named wrongly, using the second last name as the last name. So Rosa Rosas Perez is Rosa Rosas and not Rosa Perez...
