Being a grandpa is more fun than working
"Stenciling" is a topic with a very wide latitude...from painting to sandblasting.
But if you're using paint or ink, I would suggest a silk screen. Anything larger than you can burn a screen for, use paint mask vinyl.
Re-gluing any sort of stencil will not only be a messy affair, but it may also leave you with fuzzy edges.
