Roland BN20 RIBBON CABLE BETWEEN MAIN BOARD AND HEAD Right Connection

bil

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

I'm currently working on replacing the ribbon cables between the main board and the print head of a Roland BN-20, but I've run into a bit of confusion after reviewing the service manual.

On page 131 of the manual, the connections are listed as follows:

Main Board -------------------- Print Head
----------------------------------------------
CN6 (29 pins) ---------> CN3 Front
CN8 (28 pins) ---------> CN4 Front
CN5 (29 pins) ---------> CN4 Rear
CN7 (29 pins) ---------> CN3 Rear

However, elsewhere in the manual—specifically in the connection diagram page 27— i could say that 28 pins ribbon cable is connecting to CN5, with the 29th pin marked as "NC" (Not Connected). In that version, the connections are listed as:

Main Board --------------------- Print Head
----------------------------------------------
CN6 (29 pins) ---------> CN3 Rear
CN8 (29 pins) ---------> CN4 Rear
CN5 (28 pins) ---------> CN4 Front
CN7 (29 pins) ---------> CN3 Front

This discrepancy leaves me uncertain:
- Should the 28-pin ribbon cable be connected to CN5 or CN8?
- Which set of connections between the mainboard and the printhead is correct?

I've attached pages 27 and 131 of the service manual for reference.

Any clarification or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
