Morning All,

I thought some of you would find this funny. All hope fully the rest of you will feel my pain.

New client wants us to replace a door graphic on a service vehicle after an accident. No problem, Standard procedure, Easy peezy. Customer sends low res jpb for "Color Matching". I explain the cons.
They say , "Ok we will send a sample."

Annnnnd ...*drum roll please*. This is what shows up. I have never seen such a thing. I mean I know it exists and how it happens but, c'mon son! And it seems they have more and this is what they put on there service vehicles (in this condition). I really don't believe the last part. And yes, that shade of yellow used to/should be white. Oh the smell of old adhesive.

That stuff is gross! I have often wanted to tell a customer that we can't make their decal/sign/logo/whatever look at bad as the original that they provided us to match.

Simplify it

Classic. Gotta love the sign business.

I have learned to tell the client that I'll see what I can do (optimistically). Then I would pick a color that is remotely close (sellable) and I would say something to the effect of "here is the color we came up with, does that work for you?". Don't over-indulge

Obviously the client isn't very particular if they are rockin 20 yr old PSL. He!!, I would pick a PMS for them as value added service, so they can match in the future.

Just have them sign-off on a physical sample and your golden.
