Sepiax

Is anyone out there using Sepiax? I'm at a crossroads. Triangle JVV vs Sepiax vs staying with Mimaki SS21 and pay the high price. I ultimately would consider a bulk system once I decide which ink to go with. Your thoughts please.

Sepiax is expensive ink compared to Triangle and requires lots of heat.
I think the new Mimaki "Latex" uses a similar ink.
Just FYI.

Converting a machine to SepiaX from solvent has proven to be a difficult task. Every remnant of solvent ink must be purged from the entire system before introducing SepiaX. This involves a series of flushes, damper replacements etc, and in the event that any solvent ink remains in the ink train after all of that, the likely replacement of printheads.

I've heard of multiple attempts to convert a Mimaki to Sepiax. Never once heard of it being successful in a Mimaki. Been using JVV in our JV33, prints great.

Any issues with JVV cartridges

Have you had problems with the JVV cartridges not triggering the mechanism to switch when empty? I've read that was resolved but I don't know if there are still defective carts out there. Advantage is selling JVV 440ml carts for $49.00 claiming its due to overstock and lack of demand. At that price it may be worthwhile throwing out the carts when level hits one to avoid dry ups.

Yes. In fact I think we might have been the most vocal about that issue and worked directly with Triangle on resolving it. They have changed suppliers on the actual plastic cartridges which do work properly. Also the empty flag issue was hit and miss. Maybe one in 20 cartridges would actually have the problem. If you do happen to get one that might have the problem just check it when it's at level 1 - you can just til one back and forth when it is low and see if the empty tab is positioned right and moving in and out as it should.

It's been fixed for a few months now and I am told no distributors should still have any of the older cartridges that had the problem. The actual inks are great but do have a strong odor.
