I want to extend a special thank you to Jack Crosby from Cad Supply Specialty here in Austin, TX.

We have had a Roland SP-540V for sale now for about 2-3 weeks. Recently did some nozzle checks and test patterns, and were not happy with the way they were printing. The black looked like it was missing several lines, and the cyan started missing as well.

I tried many of the suggestions here on signs101, and even soaked the heads in cleaning fluid for about 30 minutes, and to no help, they got worse!!!

Man was it a stressful weekend. Gino even told me to stop messing with it! So I did...:banghead::doh::noway:

Jack just left about 15 minutes ago, and the last thing that I did not do, was Purge the lines with a syringe... He did that, ran a test print, and what do you see!???

ALL LINES ON BLACK CYAN MAGENTA AND YELLOW!

Amazing!!!

Worked like a charm... Wow, I was having to price reduce my printer just to cover the head, and now, tomorrow, if he follows through with his commitment (which he was here with the technician and everything was conveyed to him that everything was ok...) I am going to be able to sell it to him.

Fortunately, he is a Graphic Design Artist, and will also begin a strong (I hope) relationship where we can begin to work together, mainly on wraps.

Well, THe SP-540V is doing great, and waiting for it's new daddy for pickup tomorrow!

Thanks again Jack, you saved me, once again...

...Purge the lines with a syringe...

Can you please amplify on this a bit? Did he:

a) Pull ink through the heads from below the capping station?
b) Push ink into the heads from above the dampers?
c) Something else entirely?

What he did was from the black and cyan head, below the capping station, he pulled the ink from there, which was quite a bit actually... Once he pulled it, he did a test print and BEAUTIFUL! It made all the sense in the world to me. And it was the last thing I did not do. I just need to get me some of those syringes now so I can do the same on the mutoh if it ever happens!

The damper is the filter the ink passes through before entering the head. If the syringe pull got it printing all lines again , it will most likely start acting up again. From your previous post it sounded like the the test print in black was fuzzy or showing deflection.Which Usually means heads on its way. If it's just drop out , it is usually Dampers & or combo cap tops.
