VersaWorks Software questions

A while back someone told me that when you purchase a used Roland printer to register it with Roland and then you can download a newer version of VersaWorks for it for free.

Anyone know if this is true or not true?

Yes, you can.

You should be able to just update the version you have to the current version. (yes free)
Just use the update option in versaworks or download the updates you need to bring yours up to date.

You need to start with a cd first, then you can update online. That's the way it used to be.

VersaWorks CD

The VersaWorks CD I received with the SP-300V was version 3.0

I just was not sure how the updates worked or if they honored an older version.

Do I also need the drivers for windows 7 or do I just need to update VersaWorks?

Not sure about drivers but load from disk and see if you can upgrade.

You can load the early version and then upgrade to the latest version. Just follow the instructions on Roland's website. You can only upgrade to certain versions from certain versions but can eventually get to the latest version.
