  1. HDU Plaque Fail When Inset in Stone

Thanks Techman, I just emailed the manufacturer with a link to this forum and this thread. With regard to the "painting"...it was "coated the same on all sides" with polyester resin that has powdered iron in the mix. I do understand that if you only coat one side or paint one side you are...
  2. HDU Plaque Fail When Inset in Stone

No, the sign was not primed..if I was using Precision Board or Signfoam I would definitely have to use Duratec Primer but Duna's Corafoam takes the polyester resin beautifully and it carves the same plus this is their 31lb foam which is about twice as dense as PB. Yes, the back was coated with...

  4. HDU Plaque Fail When Inset in Stone

I like the idea of "screwing & gluing" like belts + suspenders...one or both gotta work. No actually Corafoam is the only material I have used where you do not need to prime before laying down the polyester resin. As for backing no I have not attached any type of backing but was considering fiberglass cloth to the backside to give it more strength.
  8. HDU Plaque Fail When Inset in Stone

What type of glue to you think would work for both surfaces?
  9. HDU Plaque Fail When Inset in Stone

I did this plaque out of 1" Corafoam 31lb. carved, cold sprayed iron both sides, rusted the iron and sealed with Permalac Satin in March of this year. Just got an email with a couple of photos that are very upsetting...the sign has warped and is pulling out where the mason had mortared it in. I...
