The chemical treatment I use is to remove the fingerprints and grease smudges, etc from the surface and it evaporates in a few seconds, usually not leaving any streaks or residue. It has nothing to do with ink adhesion and, like I stated earlier, it has not negatively affected the prints before.

The UV lamps sound the most plausible given all other factors stayed the same. I will ask our service tech about it.

We use UV LED lamps that are supposed to last a lot longer than the tube lamps. As far as I know they were not replaced and the machine is about three years old.

Also, I should clarify this is the double thick 10mil coroplast, the kind that I was told costs around $25 per sheet. The stuff has always been hard to work with, doesn't help how it usually comes off the truck warped and dirty with stringy edges from whatever saw they use to cut it. Very hard...

I found the secret to wide banners on the RMO. Turn the tension up to high and use the lowest heat lamp setting. Haven't had any rippling problems since.

When the shop I work at upgraded the Adobe CC version from 2020 to 2021, the default new document settings got messed with and it's set up for video now (?). I tried using a heat gun on the low setting and it does make the fibers shrink. But you need to unroll the vinyl on a table first to treat the edges, or it melts them together on the roll. Then when it unrolls it pulls them out longer. Hope this helps.

My problem turned out to be simple. A security protocol had gone obsolete for Windows 7 and I downloaded a fix via Windows Update. Then Adobe was able to connect once the owner logged back in.

Thanks. Restarting now. I think I found the problem. The top take up shaft wasn't tightened all the way. It couldn't rotate the tube and put tension on the media.
