  1. Summa S3 OPOS CAM + Onyx Thrive

For what we do, Flexi has been running like a champ with the new machines. I gave up on Onyx. Even if I could get the cutter to take the instructions from Onyx, it is so much faster to set up tons of jobs in Flexi and let 'em rip (literally rip... ha!). The other thing that I didn't realize...
  2. Summa S3 OPOS CAM + Onyx Thrive

Because we run hundreds of ~3 ft. panels of stickers, and depending on the shape, we run the cutter at different speeds. We load a full roll of material, and the cutter goes from job to job. An operator just removes the cut sheets. So much easier to set those parameters at the RIP. Update -...
  3. Summa S3 OPOS CAM + Onyx Thrive

Have ypu tried to run Flexi to your new S3? Eliminate if the issue is Onyx or the plotter. I'm not familiar with Onyx to know if it's capable of doing what Flexi does. I'm following as I'm looking for an alternative to Flexi myself. Just upgraded Flexi to Flexi Complete today, and after a...
  4. Summa S3 OPOS CAM + Onyx Thrive

Hi! Wondering if anyone has a shortcut or some help to share. Just got a new Summa S3 TC160 installed. What a beast! Also just learning Onyx Thrive, coming from Flexi. We make tons and tons of stickers in ~3 ft. panels, about 100 stickers per panel. We have another Summa (S-One) that has...
  5. Question Printers and Vinyl for die cut stickers

My own experience is the opposite. FWIW, I laminate everything, so it's not exactly relevant, but here's a video with scratch and alcohol on HP Latex:

Hey! Sorry - just saw your message. I had a nice big response typed out but then got a "420 character limit" when I tried to send it. Ha! Want to text, call, or email me? boyd@maxqlabs.com 303.258.6872
  7. In the market for cheaper laminator.

If I just have 15 feet or less, I just roll it up by hand (no core) and babysit it as it goes into the laminator. Short pieces (a few feet) are really easy too. I have also just hand wound material onto a core. It all works well.
  8. In the market for cheaper laminator.

It is probably sold under several other brands, but I can only give my own experience. I didn't want to invest $10k+ in something I wasn't sure I would use much, but I've been super happy with it. Maybe I just got a good one. Regardless, I'm happy to do live videos with mine if anyone is...
  9. In the market for cheaper laminator.

I have a Qomolangma 55" with heat assist, and it's AWESOME. Way cheaper than a lot of others, and I can't imagine what would be better with RS or others. My experience in purchasing it was so bad (with a vendor here on this forum) that I am now working direct with the factory, and have access to...
  10. Clean air compressor for new CNC

Don't bother with a desiccant filter unless it's after a condenser-style dryer. I built an aftercooler that mounts to the compressor between the pump and the tank. I used a transmission oil cooler (from Amazon, I think) and an automatic-drain water separator (relatively inexpensive), and this...
  11. HP Cutter wont cut through laminate (test cut is perfect)

I had this happen to me on my new HP 315 Plus Cutter, so I am wondering if you have the same problem. Here was my fix: I had Flex Cut turned on (to Accurate mode). Turn it off on the cutter control panel, check your depth and pressure, and try again. *With FlexCut turned on, the test cuts are...
  12. Need Help Cast vinyl and laminate in small quantity?

Hey pros, Wondering if anyone knows where I can get a good cast vinyl and matching laminate in a small roll. I have a short-run project for some special vehicle decals, and something like 30 feet at 54" wide would last for a year. Latex ink... Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!
