I'd remove rear cover on the ink cart side, disconnect the lines from all inputs/outputs then do the same again on other side of machine, then push cleaning fluid through them gently with a syringe. I personally wouldn't power the machine on until it has had a full service and solid cleaning...

I had this issue, for me it was the ribbon cables to print head, it then happened a few months later and this didn't fix the issue again. It was the cables from the main board to carriage board that had a fault this time. I found the issue to be damaged wires on the bend before the cables...

Check the encoder is still inside the sensors channel, then check the voltage on the sensor. I installed a new sensor recently but neglected to adjust the voltage so I was not picking up registration marks. ‍♂️

Just in case anyone else wants to upgrade and do it themselves; You need to change the 8th bit on the 12th page to a 1. There was a noticeable reduction in the ink pumped through to the waste bottle once this was done.
