    One other thing that did help is there is a firmware upgrade that changes the cleaning procedure so there is less air build up. We did that too. Worked but did not solve the problem entirely.

    Also one other thing. If the cap is not sealing properly this may also be the issue as it cannot draw out ink properly when cleaning. We just changed the cap in November and it solved the problem

    We have a vs540 and run into this problem a lot. It is the head. Roland no longer uses this head as it is so problematic. Best thing to do is shut it down and let is sit. Apparently air builds up in the head and whole colors will drop out randomly. Cleaning it will only make it worse. Also try a...
