i see the printer cleaning itself as cheap insurance. I'd rather have $0.27 of ink used to prevent down time.

I don't do it either. But, if someone else wants a shortcut to an early demise of their equipment, that's on them.

The easiest way to keep it from cleaning itself is to keep a cartridge around with too little ink for it to clean itself. Then send the job, pause it, and install the fuller cartridge.

Sounds like a damper issue. Smaller prints are fine, larger prints have banding issues.

hit the pause button, then once the print has paused, hit maintenance, and it will give the option for cleaning

There is no cleaning fluid reservoir on the 40600 to the best of my knowledge. I know there isn't one on the 60600. The cleaning cycles use your ink to clean the heads. Also, only use the heavy cleaning cycle if truly needed, and even then, before printing anything, run a light cleaning...

I have used 2 varieties of Phototex, Neenah Digiscape, and a handful of other wall covering type medias. I've always used my corrected matte vinyl media profile, as the ink isn't as heavy as my gloss media profile.

Try printing uni-directional. You can also add time between passes. From 0.0 to 10 seconds
