One more suggestion— grainy prints on 1641s tend to indicate bidi alignment issues. You said you did a “head alignment” but specifically did you do the bidi’s? Also the auto calibration is not necessarily accurate enough. You should be reading the results with a loupe and making manual...
The original value cut uses a 2 mm Blade it’s compatible with a GCC Roland cutter. If you go on eBay or Amazon and look up blades and Blade holders for GCC Roland they fit.
The newer Versions of MSA require secure passwords. MSM will do it.
If any items don’t show up in the menu, someone has turned off the asterisks in the Menu Option item in the menus
The other reasonably priced solutions are (1) Have Mutoh generate a ULK file which will let you run for 2 weeks without cards (free) or (2) buy smart cards from STS, Triange, Bordeaux or other 3rd party ink companies
You can update the firmware with MSM (Mutoh Status Monitor). SM uses the same registration as the Mutoh Club. Go to mutoh.com>support>printer registration>(login)>application & manual OR Public FTP>MSM. You still need the login from Mutoh Club to install MSM. If you bought it used or whatever...
