We have a takeup reel/wheel on our fb700 but never used it. The others tell me it's a pain in the butt and could never get it to work right. I can't find instructions or videos of the thing in action.
Anyone else here use it, and have good luck with it?
Our XR640 prints and cuts fine, but when it comes to stickers and small items, the contour cutting accuracy is lacking, No matter how often I calibrate and test the contours rarely line up right--even on short 20" sheets. Replaced the pinch rollers, that helped but this machine has limits we're...
Shrinkwrap once they're cut into stacks for delivery. I was wrong -- not wax backing, but the vinyl's adhesive itself was slightly melting into the ever-so-slight cut line in the backing. We wrapped them tight, lot of heat. Now we just use a box.
Switching to the 6mil BL helped the most.
I figured out the SHRINK WRAP and heatgun we use, was melting the wax coating on the backing into the contour cuts, making it difficult to peel them out. Also switched to 6mil matte BriteLine -- which feels and prints way better.
I'd really like to learn how stickermule and other online sticker...
I'm having trouble with our Brightline/GF and Oracal vinyl stickers not coming off when they're peeled. I've adjusted contour blade pressures and other stuff weeds just fine, but our customers can't peel these things off -- not without the backing paper ripping and staying attached.
What stock...
I just discovered Optiscout 7 (we're way behind) can use Roland cutting reg dots. Only problem is, I can't figure out how to get a cutfile out of Versaworks or via postscript into Opti that it can understand. This would be a HUGE GODSEND for me!!! I've had to go around the world a few times when...
Our Jetliner 54" has a few issues: 1. Running anything over 5 feet the tension of the lam gets loose, ripples and causes bubbles.
2. The supply and take-up bars giggle loose in their drive slots.
3. I'm not sure, but it feels like the clutch under the hand-tighteners is slipping.
4. Everything...
Unfortunately, no. There SHOULD be a way to disconnect them and fake out the machine to see 'all clear' but I decided to not let it bother me anymore.
Oddly enough, running a recent calibration routine (the camera assisted registration, where you drill small holes for it to re-adjust itself)...
I avoid using our take-up reel because it pulls too hard and can stretch the material. Is there a way to dial it back? The manual doesn't really say and we're out of warranty, so calling them is out. It's on the XR-640.
:-(
Years ago we used Frog Juice spray to give our HP printed UV metal signs some type of protection. I'd like to use cheaper acrylic clears (matte, gloss, etc) but worried it'll react to the UV ink. Anyone with experience using these together? I'm thinking any water-based clear would work fine, but...
Is there a formula for calculating how fast to move a oscillating blade when cutting different materials? I do a lot of .25" foamboard. Most of the time I set it to 60 ipm. Sometimes 75ipm. Cut looks the same, but I don't like to press my luck.
A preset I found in Optiscout had the blade going...
I started off in 1994 w a 24”wide “Lynx” found in the back of Impressions Magazine. It did great and tracked well up to 10 feet. Paid $300 for it. The $11k XR640 at my work goes nuts with anything longer than 60 inches.
My Roland printer/cutter is lousy. Want to add a used cheap, smaller cutter for vinyl work that comes thru rather than wrestling with our xr-640 all the time.
Which brands are known for:
1. Good tracking
2. Easy to source parts and blades
and
3. Work with Corel/AI as a printer driver?
Sometimes I print my original comicstrips as posters, with exaggerated banday halftones. My PS color palette is based off vintage Marvel and DC colorist guides (10,25,50,75,100%)
It's just one of those nerdy things I like to do :)
My background is old skool, hand separated screen print and mechanical film/plate making. Back then, you put down 25% cyan you knew what you were getting. I specify that in Illustrator or Photoshop, Roland will reinterpret that with a profile. Which is okay but Im wanting direct control. I’ve...
