  1. First Time purchase/set up

See if this puts it into perspective for you, Why should I go to church when I can go online and become an ordained minister? That is not to sound like a smart remark, rather a serious question. The bottom line is, there is more to it than that right? We, those of us in the sign...
  2. Newbie from the Philippines

    Greetings and well met!
  3. Which design program?

you are still missing my point... Photoshop alone cannot convert anything to a vector. That is, you cannot use photoshop by itself to convert a vector and then use photoshop to process that vector to a plotter or any other device that requires a vector. You would have to have a 2nd...
  4. Which design program?

Let me clarify my statement of "cannot convert anything to a vector". I cannot, for example, use photoshop to take an image from the internet (just did a google search for banana; attached is the pic) and simply convert it into a vector image. There is just simply no way to do that. If...
  5. Which design program?

I think the bigger question is; what are you going to be using the final design for? Will it be for... Printing? Plotting? Both? Second question is, what is going to be the primary use of the program? Create from scratch? Clean up provided artwork? From the question it sounds...

yeah, no kidding! those are some nice flames there!
  8. Let the contest Begin!

only thing... in #1 you have "weed and mount" then under 3# you have: "The cut vinyl can be masked and ready to go." which is needed for this? Do we video ourselves weeding it and pre-masking it? or do we start at the point where we bring the vinyl and the substrate together to apply?
  9. Realistc Wavy Checker Flag

most royalty free sites should have something similar. Usually it will be a photo-realistic image. Something like stock.xchng or istockphoto.
  10. calculating the actual area

it seems like you are over-complicating this. If you are using an Ariel Bold font and go with a 1'x8' area, there is really not much more you can do to maximize the font, short of adding drop shadow. Unless you are trying to pull a "rules lawyer" thing on em with the whole total area...
  11. calculating the actual area

If he has 8sqft left, do lettering that falls in a 1'x8' area, or a 2'x4' area, etc.
  12. ebay vinyl cutter kit?have around $1000. to spend

I just closed out 5 4'x8' pieces that were just over $500.00 each. That was done on aluminum, the vinyl portion ran at about $12.00 a sqft ($252.00 average for vinyl - about 21sqft on each sign), the rest was for the substrate and labor. I did not install them. That works out to be $1260.00...
  13. ebay vinyl cutter kit?have around $1000. to spend

Not sure that I agree with this at all. I do about $2000.00 a week in nothing but RFP (ready for pickup - where we just weed the vinyl, premask it, and let the customer pick it up) vinyl sales. I consider that to be good money, especially considering the low cost of the vinyl itself. On some...
  14. Geo. Knight vs. Might Press Digital

Personally I'd go with the Geo Knight. I used them before, and have never had issues with them. However, I'd consider stepping up to the DC16 http://www.bestblanks.com/geoknightdc16.html If for any other reason so you can get other attachments as you need to. Yes, the drawback is that the...
  15. Am I Dreaming, or can this be done

I have to agree, it seems simple enough based off of what you wrote, so I must have missed something too.

I see now that he/she changed to description to "make an offer". Evidenly he/she don't know how ebay works...
  18. a deal too good to be true...

I just went to Roland's website and saw it priced on there. That's where I got that price figure from.
  19. a deal too good to be true...

ya know... I just had to ask the seller a question: "How are you selling this machine for 24 thousand dollars? I can get a brand new one from Roland themselves for $16,995.00 For the extra $10,000.00 (Because a used one regardless of age is really only worth about $12K to $14K at most)...
  20. Kinda like scratch marks in print...
