  1. Roland vs. Mimaki. Help me decide.

print & cut in One "Thanks. I have a VE Q160 and a Q60 as a backup cutter. I want the print/cut for ease of use so I don't have to load/unload media when it isn't necessary. I don't plan on laminating the wall decals or short run decals." DO NOT buy a print and cut set up. You cannot just...
  2. mimaki jv3 160sp - wire/cable help

Can you post a picture. I have a spare parts machine, if it is part you need. Let me know.

Does anyone have vector clip like the attached file of 2 crossed lacrosse sticks? I need something with nice clean lines for the netting. Thanks in advance for any help.

  5. Printing Magnetic on UV Flatbed

... We use Durabond on our JF-1631. Standard lamps, no issues. When we print full bleeds, we cut magnets to size first and over print.
  6. Does anyone have experience with the New Mimaki Flatbed?

.. We went to atlanta to demo the machine. It is real nice, but $150,000 - $170,000, way over priced for the speed it puts out. At that price you can get something like a vutek, that will produce 3 times as many sheets per hour. If it drops to around $120,000, I would look it at seriously. It...
  7. Ink Limits on rasterlink?

... You will need to spend some money on equipment and software. We spent around $1400 for an I-one. We got lucky and borrowed the profile builder software from a friend. It cost some money to build profiles and we waited a long time before we actually decided we could not deal with color...
  8. Ink Limits on rasterlink?

... You can reduce the density under color edit, color adjustment. However, it will change you colors the more you reduce the density. You really need to build color profiles for all your materials. It was the best thing we ever did.
  9. Question on New JV33

JV33 hands down, especially for the reasons you stated. Its a work horse, just like the JV3 it replaced. Always go bigger. You can always print smaller stuff on a larger printer, but you can never printer larger stuff on a smaller printer.
  10. what do you think of the Acuity HD 2504

prints look great, but from what i hear you need to ad an adhesion promoter to most materials (especially coroplast). we had a sample off the acuity on banner that we could just scrape off with our fingers. i think it si ridculus that there is nit an ink today that is more aggressive than what...
  11. what do you think of the Acuity HD 2504

I have been to see this printer several times. Prints beautifully. However, without an adhesion promoter the inks will easily chip off coroplast(more than any I've seen). Also, do not attempt to print on anything flexible (banner or vinyl), it will chip right off in your hands. We passed on it...
  12. Flexi Pantone Chart?

Are you looking for a pantone chart that is numbered so you can print it out on various materials? If so, I built one from the solid coated pantone colors (It took forever). If ythat's what your looking for, I can e-mail it to you.
  13. Printing an Illuminated fascia on our Valuejet

... Yes you do. Colors will look dull and black will look muddy green. We double strike with an 8 pass when we do clear vinyl for acrylic faces. I cannot see when you would ever need to hit more than twice, but different printers may require more than 2 strikes. Print a sample on clear using a...
  14. flexi icc profile help

.. Scanvec website has icc profiles. Photobase ones are better than the banner ones. We have used them a lot, but you should build your own profiles at some point.
  15. Hello All! 1st Week w/Mimaki JF1631

.. We put a deposit down on our JF. We are just waiting until we move our old flatbed. Hopefully, we will have it by the end of the month. My friend has two JF's in his shop. Both are running on 4 colors to get the most speed, which is about 135 sq ft an hour @ 600x 600 4 pass. Quality of...
  16. New JV33-160

.. Disagree about the combo unit for two reasons. We usually print all the vinyl we need at one time and than load the whole roll in the cutter the following day and just cut one job after another (Reverse the cut and order of course). This way while the jobs are being cut on one machine I can...
  17. Cmyk, Rgb, Spot?

For years we have been printing from Flexi using Spot Colors from the Pantone Chart and Canned profiles. In the production manager we set it to Adobe 1998 RGB, Realtive Colormetric. We just purchased an eyeone b/c its time for some real color profiles. My question is, what color format do you...
