I don't know too much about signs, coming from the printing end of the world and only previously using a small vinyl cutter so while I'm waiting on a HP 260, I put this together from some used ez-rect Type 1 boltless shelving I had on hand. If it weren't for my experimentation with modifying the...
I installed it today making my external sata hard drive pocket the selected drive for the graphics pc.
Intel I7 2.66 processor
1 tb Western Digital Black Enterprise Drive 7200 rpm
12 gig RAM
NVidia Graphics Card
I don't yet have the printer but did get the demo up.
So if I buy a new PC and it...
Make not 1 but 2 www.redobackup.org clones of your Windows system
I prefer to keep 2 clone backup of my Computers and RIPs using free by donation www.redobackup.org , a before new software and after new software clone. Most only take an hour or 2 I leave one running at night after any...
I did research the print and cut model Mimaki, versus Roland. and HP.
The Mimaki properly printed photos where transparency had been added, the Roland samples were sent from 2 different dealers with white boxes on the transparency's . One of those dealers also sold Mimaki and those prints came...
A step by step tutorial of a performance system, Thanks. Sounds like you have a good grasp of what you want in your RIP as well as problems you went through.
Did you try with 4 Gigs before 8 Gigs of RAM can you tell us the incremental benefit?
I see Newegg has a special on a Mac Mini...
Thanks, sounds like any decent computer work decently with it, the issue is going to be something with enough power to test Onyx. I hope to order today components from Newegg Canada suitable for a reliable workstation as I want an additional workstation this year as well.
16 Gigs ECC error...
What worked for me was printing out CMYK color charts - after searching google I came up with http://cmykchart.com/ which includes 5% charts. In actual fact though I printed out over 70 sheets from the color copier the ones that get used are the Yellow Magenta, yellow cyan and cyan Magenta. With...
Sounds like a Virtual RAM drive would be useful http://www.pcworld.com/article/260918/how_to_supercharge_your_pc_with_a_ram_disk.html . Sorry, what was a Band Home, I'm guessing you meant your Operatingy system but if so why not just have it with Onyx - or was it a issue of cost of SSD's when...
What was the reason for Operating system and Onyx on separate SSD's, as should be loaded into RAM with 16 gb of RAM it seems to me perhaps they could be on one, perhaps 128 gig SSD?
Anything special for Video or was the processor one with built in Video?
Regards the 3 Western Digital 10k...
I need a RIP to run a new HP 260 Latex printer and a separate cutter and intend to try both Onyx(Adobe APPE version) and Caldera, however I don't seem to see recommended hardware if someone cares to point me in the right direction.
It seems Onyx is 32 bit, so probably limited to 3 Gigs...
I need a RIP to run a new HP 260 Latex printer and a separate cutter and intend to try both Caldera and Onyx, however I don't seem to see recommended hardware for Caldera if someone cares to point me in the right direction.
Is Caldera true 64 bit therefore able to use all RAM, if so and...
Which processor, amount of RAM , Hard drive size on Mac mini as I see they have changed over time. Would you recommend anything be faster, or larger than what you got.
Thanks, Ken
Thanks, what do you run it on for hardware, I don't want to under or overdo it.
This will be running a HP 260 latex and Graphtec cutter on a gigabit network. Can we just design in CorelDraw and send it or pdf's to the RIP like any old printer?
I will try at least Onyx and Caldera - I think the APPE versions with Adobe interpreter. I had intended to buy a new workstation and run this RIP from there but see Caldera desires 64 bit Linux based. I run a storage server with 32 bit SME Linux from Contribs.org and a low end HP Proliant...
If the other RIP prints correctly is it retrieving files from the installed fonts on the PC perhaps being able to use other fonts unlike Adobe that uses ps printer fonts only for their RIPs, so their expensive RIP can look more useless than a free windows printer driver.
In the case of Thrive...
I'm interested in HP 260 Latex Printers - however site requirement document shows, no 208V which is standard with 3Phase - 220-240V is required using buck booster or Transformer or pehaps UPS?
My electrician is looking into the solution but I'm wondering what others have done. use a booster...
I am just about convinced to go with a HP Latex printer but if so which RIP?
Are the RIPs available with perhaps a 30 day trial so one could actually determine the best for their requirements?
We currently use CorelDraw a lot for 1 page design so would expect to continue with that but...
I see the spec's include both ink capabilities but mention you can immediately cut with the solvent ink. This leads to the question of how long do you wait for eco solvent ink?
What's your preference?
If Solvent ink did you buy the venting kit from Mimaki?
I see Solvent inks do not...
If left on so automated cleanings occurs would that suffice over a long weekend?
The plus to the Mimaki would be its ability to print and cut vs the HP which requires a separate cutter. I know its a debate over which is better but I can't help thinking it would be easier to sample print and...
