  1. Looking for new business- what has worked for you?

We have been working very well with the local chamber of commerce for several years. We make signs for their events, they promote Monterey Signs to businesses looking to network and grow. Recently, we came up with an idea to give away a small 2' x 4' banner for every business that becomes a...

  5. Gifts for your best customers at the end of the year

We went to a local gift/framing store and purchased 50 small 6" x 8" mirrors with scalloped edges that were nice looking. They also had a strong magnet affixed to the back. On the mirror surface we applied text "Make way for the positive day- Bob Marley" in silver etched glass vinyl inn a...
  6. Best 3 Year Digital Print Vinyl

3 Year Air Egress Vinyl We've had a lot of success with LG LD383TG. It's a 3 year, air-egress vinyl. Because it has a repositionable adhesive it applies very easily and removes without leaving a bunch of adhesive on the substrate. Our cost for a 54" x 150 roll is typically $175.
  7. 3M 8518 gloss silicone backing... recyclable?

The silicone coating on the paper makes the liner not recyclable. This is true for all silicone coated liners, not just this product. Since you can't recycle it, your best bet is to re-use it like the others have done.
  8. I just had my first "My child is smarter than me moment" and he's FOUR......

Oh, I was looking at a DVD movie cover and I asked him, "What animal is this?", because I honestly didn't know and really didn't think he knew either. He looked at the Ice Age DVD and informed with the a matter-of-fact professorial tone, "That's a sloth, Daddy". Well of course it is....
  9. Removable but not static material

Well, that's not exactly right. Reverse print (mirror image) onto clear, removable adhesive vinyl. So when you peel the liner off and look through the adhesive, everything is legible. Right? Ok, then on the top of the clear vinyl (non-adhesive side) apply an opaque white vinyl. This white...
  10. Removable but not static material

OK, I didn't get the quantities but I am guessing it is less than 50 at that size. You are right on with what you want to do. You reverse print onto clear removable vinyl (like Orajet 3620) then laminate onto the top of the clear (non-adhesive side) any white adhesive vinyl with a clear...

  13. 3M Partial Wrap Via Mopar!

Can't have it both ways! This is just another example of 3M thinking they can be a partner and competitor too. They try to spin it, but the fact remains you can buy retail graphics from 3M directly. Like everything else in a capitalist society, your best outlet for protest is your wallet...
  14. Covering white lexan?

DD. The Oracal 3640 will probably work fine. If you've done your job well your customer knows this won't look great but it will look OK. (You're definitely not going to brag about this later). Also, your not going to want to install the graphics wet, since it's a cheap water-based...
  15. Need Feedback on this Vinyl.

You can be World Grand Champion Wrap Installer and still have your customers complain about your calendered wrap film 6 months after installation. If you don't mind re-doing the wrap for free because you saved $250 on your media costs then this is the product for you. Oracal's new 3169RA and...

  18. Vehicle Wraps

Vehicle Wrap Business in 3 Easy Steps 1) Have lots of money in the bank because your going to lose money on every wrap until you figure it out and make it profitable. 2) Find a local supplier of sign-making equipment and supplies that can service your equipment, help you with software, and...
  19. Mother-In-Law Window Perf

My Mother-In-Law just moved into a new house. Outside her kitchen window she has a very nosy (and not so nice) neighbor always peering through her kitchen window watching her. So, I made a contour-cut window perf graphic for her that has done the trick. See the attached photo to see the...
